Another shirt made from Simplicity 3835. This time with a knit. It doesn't exactly say that the pattern works for knits, but well, it did. So there! The fabric I used wasn't super stretchy though - probably something to keep in mind if you give it a try. And I went at least 2 sizes smaller for this version than I did with regular cotton. It is ridiculously comfortable and probably everyone who sees me in real life is sick of seeing it.

A Summer First
This morning Sydney and I picked our first few strawberries of the summer.
Of course, they had to be photographed before they could be eaten!
Sydney ate strawberries in her oatmeal (I know, sounded weird to me too!) and I had them with homemade granola - which was amazing! And now they are gone! It was fun while it lasted!!

Fruity Cutie
Sydney and I finished up this dress this morning and couldn't wait to show it off. (Try to ignore the bad hair!) I started this dress several weeks ago and even though it was really simple, took forever to finish it. The fabric is a vintage find from a garage sale last year. It's kind of thin and not the nicest stuff, but I think it will be nice a cool to play in this summer.
The pattern is Simplicity 5118 sort of ... I used the back pattern piece for the front and back and then added the pockets. It totally reminds me of my mom's Poor Pitiful Pearl doll.

Favorite Friday - Second Hand Treasures
Sydney and I have been hitting the local garage sales on Fridays. It's fun and something to look forward to at the end of the week. She is crazy about them! I'm creating a monster, I can tell - but it's just so fun! Anyway, this has been our greatest find so far this summer...
A small vintage Le Creuset pot with lid in a most fabulous shade of turquoise. This was one of those snatch it up-hold to your chest-make sure no one is around to steal it kind of finds. We spent the rest of the day rubbing the "magic pot" before each sale stop, but it didn't seem to bring much more luck.
For some reason, which I'm sure I will regret someday, I think I am going to sell it. As much as I would love to have a Le Creuset pot I would really rather have a large stock pot instead of this smaller saucepan size. So, I figure I could sell it and start saving for the big one I would really use. I'm sure ebay is the right place for something like this, but I've never used it before (I know, I must be the last one on the planet). I'm thinking I might list it on etsy first and just see what happens. Your thoughts?
And as if you couldn't tell, it is really hard to take a good picture of a pot!

chocolate on chocolate on chocolate on fudge
It's my husband's 35th birthday today. He is a die hard chocolate lover. So I made him Triple Chocolate Fudge cupcakes with 2 kinds of chocolate frosting. And then I took them all to his office. The seams on my pants are thanking me already.
Sorry I've been MIA lately. I have no excuse except gray skies, lots of rain, bad attitudes and a whiny two year old. See, you didn't want to read about that stuff anyway, right? :) See you tomorrow.

Favorite Friday
documenting
So it seems this is the only place I actually document our lives, so this post is for me!
Sydney slept in her new big-girl bed for the first time Tuesday night. In her words "I love it so, so, so, so much."
In the shoe store on Wednesday while sitting on a bench she told me "Once upon a time a tiny little bunny lived in my house."
Today while eating a snack of graham crackers and juice she said "I'm going to show you a magic trick" and dunked her cracker in her juice and ate it.

Catching Up
Still trying to catch up from the weekend! A garage sale and a graduation is just too much for us in one weekend I guess, especially when they occur 3 hours away from each other. But we survived. The garage sale we held was a little disappointing, but I got rid of a lot of junk and am looking forward to really cleaning and organizing my house now that there is a lot less here. So in the meantime, I thought I would catch up with the pictures on my computer that you haven't seen from the past couple weekends. Enjoy!
